Prime Gaming Offers Free Lord of the Rings Games for Rings of Power Season 2 Launch

Over the years, many fantastic Lord of the Rings video games have been released, and right now, Prime Gaming members can get some of these titles for free.

With the second season of Prime Video's Middle-earth series, Rings of Power, launching on August 29th, Prime Gaming is celebrating by offering some excellent Lord of the Rings games for free to its members. Prime members can claim PC codes via GOG for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Lego: The Lord of the Rings, while Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be available through the Amazon Luna streaming service.

Considered one of the best Lord of the Rings games ever made, Shadow of Mordor features an original story set in the dark lands where Sauron built his stronghold. Released in 2014, players control the ranger Talion, who seeks revenge after his family is murdered and he is bound with the Elven Lord Celebrimbor to escape death. The game's swords-and-sorcery elements are exciting, but its real standout feature is the Nemesis System, which allows you to create a custom antagonist based on your actions. For example, if an Uruk orc kills you, they become stronger and earn a promotion.

The Nemesis System also provides a hit list of orcs to track down, and by exploiting their weaknesses, you can gradually weaken Sauron's army. Shadow of War, released a few years later, expanded on these ideas and gave players the option to lead their own army of orcs into epic battles. Meanwhile, Lego: Lord of the Rings is based on Peter Jackson's film trilogy and follows the format of other licensed Lego games.

In the game, you can explore famous locations from the movies, battle enemies, destroy the environment, and craft gadgets to help you progress. While it doesn't differ much from other Lego games developed by Traveler's Tales, it has a playful sense of humor and loads of content.
